About Rashtriya Ekta Diwas

The observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day on 31st October serves to reinforce our commitment to strengthen the security, unity and integrity of our country. It not only commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of national integration of independent India, but also re-affirms our inherent strength and resilience to withstand threats to the security, unity and integrity of the country.

The celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas has a special significance this year, as it marks the completion of the task of making Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh an integral part of India by abrogating Article 370. In a true sense, this represents the realisation of the dream of Sardar Patel for an integrated India.

In order to disseminate the message of national unity to every corner of the country, ‘Run for Unity’ is being organised all over the country on Thursday, 31st October, 2019.

States and UTs have been requested to organize ‘Run for Unity’ at their State/ UT capital, major cities and towns and all district headquarters besides other activities such as Rashtriya Ekta Pledge, March Past, etc.
